Felicity Lawrence, journalist for UK The Guardian wrote this piece last month about a new Transition Town in Wales.

The thought of a community coming together and working out how to live without oil is inspirational. To experience an emotional reality check, work through the implications of a future with no oil and actively find solutions that empower them to live responsibly is outstanding.
The Transition Towns concept will be unveiled at the New Zealand Ecoshow in Taupo on 12-14 October this year. How will this concept become mainstream in New Zealand? How fast will the news travel that we, as citizens, can take control of our own destiny, personally and in our community? How will large cities like Auckland, New Zealand manage this process?
We will do it. We have to do it. Living responsibly as a community is one of the key factors that will help us in the future to survive the effects of the damage humanity has done.
When they call a Transition Towns meeting in your community – go. Better still, call your own!
Thanks Linda, for alerting people to the Transition Towns concept. The Transition Towns workshop at the Taupo EcoShow was a great success, and lots of people learnt more about it, and expressed keen interest in furthering localisation efforts in their communities.
Expect lots of movement in this area all over New Zealand in the coming months.
